About Me
Instructional Design combines my passions like nothing else can.
I have several passions in my life: music, games, technology, learning, helping others. I have been a Communications Officer/Webmaster, a Director of Operations, an Educator, but none of these seemed like the right fit. Instructional design and eLearning development give me the opportunity to combine my passions in creative and innovative ways that no other position could.
First, I fell in love with the tools of the trade. I love coming up with interactions in Articulate Storyline 360 and problem solving what variable or trigger I need to make it work, especially when it comes to gamification (I have almost 300 board and card games in my collection and I love using what I've learned from playing them to make my courses more fun and engaging). Vyond gives me the freedom to play with technology and animation to tell a story, and figuring out the best music to support it. Audacity and Camtasia let me work on my video and sound editing skills.
Knowing I can do all this while helping make other people's lives easier, I couldn't wait to get started. Whether it is creating a job aid to reference so they can have one less ball to juggle in their day, or making a full course to learn a new process so they can spend less time revising and resubmitting, I know that what I do as an Instructional Designer is helping others do their job better. I have prided myself in anticipating the needs of my colleagues, or clearing up possible misunderstandings and helping everyone succeed. I can't wait to use my passions to strengthen outcomes at your organization!
